Canadian Party of Quebec to Present Strategy to Combat Antisemitism and Protect Jewish Quebecers

Party Leader Joseph Cianflone and D’Arcy-McGee candidate Joyce Stoliar Shanks to speak at Montreal press conference

MONTREAL, September 23, 2026 — The Canadian Party of Quebec (CaPQ) will hold a press conference on Friday, September 25, at 11:00 a.m. at Place José Rizal in Mackenzie-King Park, near Côte-Sainte-Catherine metro station, to present the party’s policy to combat antisemitism and strengthen the safety and security of Jewish Quebecers.

Party Leader Joseph Cianflone and Joyce Stoliar Shanks, CaPQ candidate in D’Arcy-McGee, will present the party’s proposed measures and discuss the need for a coordinated provincial response to antisemitism in Quebec.

The party’s strategy includes measures to:

• strengthen Holocaust and antisemitism education;
• put Quebec’s adoption of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) working definition of antisemitism into practice;
• establish a Community Security Fund to help protect synagogues, Jewish schools and community institutions;
• improve provincial coordination and prosecutorial capacity for hate-motivated offences;
• increase transparency and public reporting on hate-motivated incidents and their outcomes;
• strengthen accountability at publicly funded institutions; and
• examine narrowly tailored measures to protect safe access to schools, places of worship, hospitals and other vulnerable institutions.

The policy is intended to strengthen the protection of Jewish Quebecers while preserving freedom of expression, legitimate political debate and peaceful protest.
