MONTREAL, QUEBEC – The Canadian Party of Quebec (CaPQ) will hold a press conference at Place du Canada in downtown Montreal on Wednesday, September 9, at noon, bringing together party leader Joseph Cianflone, several of the party's candidates, and former party leader Colin Standish during the opening weeks of the 2026 Quebec election campaign. The press conference will provide an opportunity for the party to outline its message to Quebec voters and introduce several of its candidates for the October 5 election. Cianflone will open the event by setting out the CaPQ's priorities for the campaign and its commitment to individual rights, linguistic rights, equality and Canadian unity. Several candidates will then speak briefly about their candidacies, their communities and the issues that brought them to the Canadian Party of Quebec. Former party leader Colin Standish will also address the event, reflecting on the party's development since its founding in 2022 and the continuing need for an unapologetically federalist voice in Quebec politics. The party will also address its concerns regarding Elections Québec's decision to distribute certain voter information to Quebec households only in French, an issue the CaPQ believes raises broader questions about equal access to election information and democratic participation.
