Hannah Wolker
Born in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Hannah Wolker is a proud Quebecer whose roots reflect both the province's diversity and resilience. The daughter of a German immigrant dairy farmer and a bilingual Montreal-born nurse, she was raised on a family farm where she developed a deep appreciation for hard work, community, and environmental stewardship from an early age. Growing up in Quebec during a period of significant social and linguistic change, Hannah experienced firsthand the impact of public policy on communities and educational opportunities. These experiences helped shape her commitment to fairness, inclusion, and preserving Quebec's rich cultural heritage. After graduating from Champlain College in Saint-Lambert, Hannah became actively involved in civic and social causes that reflected her belief in equality, justice, and community engagement. Her participation in initiatives supporting women's rights, public safety, and LGBTQ+ inclusion strengthened her conviction that meaningful change begins when citizens stand up for the values they believe in. A devoted mother and grandmother, Hannah raised a blended family that includes one stepson and three daughters. Through marriage, she became part of the Kanehsatà:ke Mohawk community and is the proud mother of two Mohawk daughters. She encouraged her children to embrace and respect their Indigenous heritage while fostering an appreciation for the many cultures that contribute to Quebec's social fabric. Hannah believes that all cultures are equal and deserve to be respected, understood, and celebrated. Throughout her children's education, she became a strong advocate for equitable access to quality learning opportunities while emphasizing the importance of cultural identity, community values, and civic responsibility. Through determination and hard work, she achieved homeownership as a single parent. In 2019, Hannah decided to enter the political arena by running as a candidate for the New Democratic Party (NDP) in Sainte-Thérèse-de-Blainville. Motivated by growing concerns over challenges facing Quebec's healthcare and education systems, she sought to bring the voices of everyday citizens into the political process. Frustrated by issues she felt were not being adequately addressed, Hannah believed that meaningful change required people to become actively involved in shaping public policy. Her campaign reflected her commitment to advocating for stronger public services, greater accountability, and a government that listens to the needs of its communities. Her commitment to protecting the environment, supporting Indigenous peoples, preserving faith-based and community institutions, and building a brighter future for the next generation continues to guide her public service. Drawing inspiration from her close relationships with her mother, children, and granddaughter, she believes that strong communities are built through compassion, responsibility, and active citizenship. As a public representative, Hannah is committed to advancing policies that strengthen cultural preservation, improve education and healthcare, protect children and families, and promote environmental sustainability. She is also dedicated to fostering meaningful partnerships with Indigenous communities and ensuring that all Quebecers have the opportunity to thrive. Hannah Wolker brings a lifetime of community involvement, practical experience, and unwavering dedication to the people of Quebec. Her vision is one of opportunity, inclusion, and respect for future generations.
